191-195 Main Street

The present building was created in 1891, but the original building on site was created in 1835. In 1845 its ownership passed to William Trench, a prominent politician. From 1882 to 1887, it was rented to the Middletown Police and served as their first police station in town.

Middlesex Mutual Assurance Building

The Middlesex Mutual Assurance Building on Main Street was built in 1867. It housed the Middlesex Mutual Assurance Company, as well as providing meeting space for multiple fraternal organizations to meet. In 1891 an annex was added for a telephone company, and in 1892 a theater was added as well.
